A Modern Kavishar

My paternal roots (Dadke) are in the village of Bhura Karimpur. My father's journey led him to the Damdami Taksal during the time of Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji. It was Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh Ji who personally took my father to the Taksal, where he and Singh Sahib Giani Jaswant Singh Ji decided to place my father under the revered tutelage of Ustad Prem Singh Ji for his training.

My spiritual foundation began right at home, deeply shaped by the devotion of my parents. My maternal roots (Nanke) are in the village of Sur Singh. My mother took Amrit during the time of Brahm Giani Baba Sohan Singh Ji. During her childhood, my mother was blessed to have the darshan of Sant Baba Daya Singh Ji and Sant Baba Avtar Singh Ji. She frequently visited him and fully embraced Gurmat in her daily life. Growing up, Jathas would continuously visit our home. My father shared his life and stayed in the close company of many great warriors and devoted Sikhs, including Bhai Sujan Singh, Baba Thahra Singh, Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi, Baba Manochahal Ji, and Bhai Jarnail Singh (Nitnem Wale).

Later, my father passed this immense knowledge on to me, teaching me Gurmat Vidhya, Kavishri, and Kirtan, and introducing me to the revered Bhai Nirmal Singh Chohla Sahib. During my childhood, I had the great fortune of having the darshan of Sant Baba Thakur Singh Sahib Ji. Because of my family's deep roots, I received Sikhi naturally from within my home. Through the blessings of my parents, I was given the priceless gifts of Kirtan, Kavishri, and Gurbani Santhiya. Additionally, from Tabla player Bhai Jaswant Singh, who currently performs his duty at Pahuwind, I received the gift of learning the Tabla and deeply understanding its beats and rhythms.

My wider family has also guided my path. My paternal uncle (Chacha Ji), a retired Captain, has always followed the principles of Sikhi, making us aware of both spiritual wisdom (Gurmat) and worldly knowledge. At every turn in life, I continue to receive teachings of Chardi Kala (high spirits) from my elder brother, Bhai Gursahib Singh, who received his own education from the Mahapurakh of Jogewal, Sant Baba Baldev Singh Ji.

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to my sister, Dr. Gurmeet Kaur, whose academic wisdom, guidance in Gurmat, and heartfelt Ardas (prayers) have helped me immensely. My brother-in-law, Pandeep Singh, has been my constant pillar of strength, continually supporting and encouraging me at every stage of my life's journey. Furthermore, by the immense grace of Maharaj, I was blessed with my life partner, Ramninder Kaur, who hails from the esteemed family of Sant Baba Kartar Singh Ji (Bariaran Wale). With Maharaj's continuous blessings, she stands steadfastly by my side, supporting me in every aspect of my life.
